Ⅶ 次の英文を読み,あとの問いに答えよ。

Most movies have between 40 and 75 minutes of music, but we do not usually notice the music. Why not? Because the music and the action in the movie fit perfectly.
The movie director and the music composer work together to make the music and the movie match. First, the director makes the movie. Then the director and the composer talk about every scene and character. The composer writes or chooses music for each scene in the movie. When the music does not fit the scene perfectly, the director cuts or changes parts of the scene. This way, the music matches the action in the movie perfectly.
Music does many things for movies. First of all, it tells you the time and place of the movie. For example, a movie in downtown Hong Kong might play popular Chinese music. A movie in the U.S. in the 1960s might play rock ’n’ roll. The music tells you where and when the movie takes place. The music also tells you the level of action in a scene. A scene with lots of action has fast and loud music. A slow scene has slow and gentle music. The music matches the speed of the scene.
The composer carefully chooses the musical instruments in order to let us know how people feel in each scene. Usually, sad scenes use string instruments. Scenes about war use brass instruments. Scenes that are tense use percussion instruments.
Sometimes the music also explains how the characters in the movie grow and change. In some movies, the composer writes a piece of music for the main characters in the movie. We hear that piece of music every time the character is in a scene. This music can change as the character changes. For example, in the movie Star Wars , the music for the character of Luke Skywalker changes as he grows up. When Luke is a young boy, his music uses string instruments. When Luke grows up into a strong man, his music is played with a large number of instruments including a lot of brass instruments.
Music is an important part of the movie experience. The next time you go to the movies, be sure to notice the music. Think about the meaning of the music, and remember all the work that went into choosing and making it.
